If it’s not food, don’t eat it.


News on the web is nutritionist Mark Haub ate a bunch of junk food and lost 27 lbs. The message, said CNN, was that calories are what really matter when trying to lose weight.

If you ask me, it’s out of the frying pan and into the fryer (ha). The best thing we can do for ourselves is eat simple, fresh, home-cooked food. Except for the occasional splurge, I try to abide by Michael Pollan’s rules: Eat food; not too much, and mostly plants.

In response to the ‘twinkie diet,’ The LA Times posted this enlightening art project: Dwight Eschliman photographed each of the 37 ingredients in Twinkies; a powerful reminder that if a ‘food’ item has 37 ingredients, some of which are unpronounceable, for God’s sake, don’t eat it!
